Mentoring
• Veteran mentorship is extremely important at Academy Securities
• Every veteran that reaches out to Academy receives an initial phone call from the Chief Compliance Officer
• Academy holds regular meetings with our mentees
• At these meetings, mentees meet the team in a roundtable style format where they can ask questions about transitioning from the military into a corporate/finance career
• Mentors also provide networking/interview advice, address any other relevant questions, and give mentees the chance to share their own experiences to help others in the room
Training
• Academy Securities has consistently offered flexible internships designed with veterans in mind over the years
• We offer three core internship programs in June, July, and August as well as off cycle internships
• Academy also offers Veteran Fellowships where Academy sponsors veterans to allow them to take securities licensing exams
• In 2019, the Dean of Fordham’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies approved Academy to serve as their first veteran focused internship program at the school where the veteran can earn educational credit for their on-the-job training
Interns will have an opportunity to:
• Gain exposure to the various departments at Academy (Capital Markets, Sales/Trading, Public Finance, Geopolitical Intelligence, Investment Banking, Operations, etc.)
• Learn about the various roles which exist in the Financial Services Industry
• Create a business network and learn about professional communication
• Receive guidance towards career goals
• Develop and build on skills that will help them excel in their future careers
SkillBridge
Academy Securities is proud to have been an approved SkillBridge Provider with the DoD SkillBridge Program (also known as the Career Skill Program) since December of 2021. The SkillBridge Program encourages Service members to capitalize on training and development opportunities throughout their military career so that they may grow and develop as professionals fully capable of serving the Nation – both during their time in uniform and after their term of military service as civilians. The SkillBridge Program allows providers a chance to mentor and train transitioning Service members while also giving the provider an extended “on-the-job” interview to see if the Service member is a potential long-term fit for the company.
