What has Happened: This evening, India launched missile strikes against Pakistan, hitting “terrorist infrastructure” (but did not target any Pakistani military facilities) in both Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Indian government said that its forces had struck nine targets in Pakistan (and on Pakistan’s side of the disputed Kashmir region) and that its military actions had been “measured, responsible, and designed to be non-escalatory in nature.” General Waddell from our GIG believes this suggests that unless Pakistan escalates through military actions, this operation is likely going to be India’s full response to the recent terrorist attacks.
